Brianna is a multi-hyphenate artist and educator who uses storytelling as a medium for expression, change, and community, and has been the recipient of several awards and grants to support her work.  A Writer/Director with experience in theater as well as film, she has also served in various production capacities including Producer, Gaffer, Camera Operator, and more.  Brianna is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Communication and Film/Media at Community College of Rhode Island. She holds an M.F.A. in Film and Media Art from Emerson College and a B.A. double major in Theater Arts/Performance Studies and Africana Studies from Brown University. She is a recipient of the Television Academy Foundation's 2023 Alex Trebek Legacy Fellowship.

In addition to doing videojournalism work with FiveThirtyEight/ABCNews and prior work at CNN, Brianna dives into narrative fictional explorations through numerous productions, including an extensive personal body of work. Her film Sidewalks, which she wrote, directed, produced, and starred in, was an Official Selection at the Charlotte Black Film Festival, the Detroit Black Film Festival, and the Boston Women’s Film Festival. She uses narrative storytelling to artistically examine themes including gender roles, coming-of-age, mental health, memory, identity, and experiences linked to Blackness and race. She is currently writing and developing an Afrofuturistic series titled Onyx and The Chronicle of the Seers, for which she has produced a proof-of-concept film titled 18 Years: A Letter to Zora. A live script reading with local actors took place at Boston's Roxbury International Film Festival in 2021 and the finished film debuted on the festival circuit in 2022 at RoxFilm as well. Brianna has extensive technical and software skills ranging from screenwriting to graphic design to video editing, and first-hand experience managing large casts and crews.

Brianna is a classically trained soprano who loves Opera, Broadway, and Jazz. She also enjoys reading speculative fiction and watching drama and sci-fi television series and movies.
